How to Motivate Yourself in 6 Steps

Without motivation nothing happens in our lives. We lose all control over anything that might or might not happen to us. Everyone feels motivation to do something, but sometimes we need to take that simple motivation and heat it into a burning desire.

Burning Desire is what motivational pioneer and wealth expert Napoleon Hill called the heart of motivation. Motivation so intense it moved you and those around you to achieve your goals.

So here are a few techniques to help you get motivated to start you own business and/or achieve your goals.

Envision your reward. What is it that you want to accomplish by starting you own business? Some examples could be more money, freedom, or to become a leading expert in your field. Ultimately, it’s up to you. For instance, I chose financial security and freedom from a job.

Now take that reward the goal and write it down. When you write it, do so as if you had already achieved it. For example, if your goal was to have more money than your family is currently making you could write something like, “My family and I have financial abundance; we have all the money we could want.”

Or in my instance, “I am free from the restraint of working a regular job, my family and I have wealth and abundance.”

It’s important to word the goal so that it’s in the present tense so as you read the words they penetrate your subconscious and will hold a deeper meaning in your mind. The subconscious mind is powerful and holds the key to aiding you in achieving you goals.

Keep your written reward somewhere where you’ll see it daily. I place mine near my computer, as I am on my computer at least twice a day. Common areas that people leave their writings are on their nightstand and on their bathroom mirror. Find a place that’s comfortable for you.

Read it aloud twice daily. This is usually best first thing in the morning and right before bed. As it’s common that you’ll see it both times each day. Say it with confidence and clarity as if it were already fact.

Clearly visualize the goal as realistic as you can. Is your goal a trip to Hawaii? What’s the beach look like? Can you feel the wind blowing across your face? How does the sand feel between your toes? The more real you can make it the better.

Believe that it is possible. Self doubt is self destructive. Know that you deserve whatever it is that you want. Change your perception if you have self doubt. You can achieve your goals. What’s next?

Choose a business that's right for you. How do you get there? Figure out exactly what it will take to achieve your rewards. Make a plan and everyday take some time to get closer to your goals. Stay focused. Believe in yourself and that you deserve greatness.

Good Luck.
